[00:00:00] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: ... Welcome, I am Marketing Expert and Business Coach Melissa Kellogg Lueck, and this is the Doing Business Like a Woman podcast, where we are exploring and teaching you how women are reinventing the way business is done and money is made to help you create greater impact and financial freedom, one business at a time.
[00:00:24] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: Well, hey there. How's it going? I'm Melissa, and here is your marketing power up for today. I wanna talk about making it tangible, and I was recently talking to a woman and we were talking about the importance of self-concept and coaching on self-concept. And she asked me, but what does working with you actually look like?
[00:00:52] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: And, 'cause we were talking some about some of these more intangible parts of what, how I serve my clients, right. [00:01:00] And so she asked me that question and it made me pause, and I realized that I hadn't made the intangible concept of coaching very tangible for her. And thank God she asked, because so often when we're out marketing and communicating, talking to people, they won't ask or they'll just scroll on by, right?
[00:01:22] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: So thank God she asked because I paused and I really had to connect with. Okay, let me describe this in a more tangible way, because when we do, that's when we compel people to move. When we really bring people in, when we can make some of the intangible parts of the work we do, the intangible. Results that we offer, we need to be able to make them tangible and compelling.
[00:01:52] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: So how do you do that? So what I, what you wanna do is really think about and practice [00:02:00] writing and talking about how to make the work you do very tangible. Even if it is intangible, it's gonna show up in tangible ways. So, for example, I once heard someone say like, how will it change my experience on a Tuesday?
[00:02:19] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: So. When I, so I thought about that for this person, and so for example, rather than just talking about coaching on self-concept, which is very nebulous and intangible sounding, instead what I need to do is think about how is the work of self-concept going to change the way this woman experiences her business on a Tuesday?
[00:02:46] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: So the tangible way I would explain it, and you can do this in your marketing and when you're talking to people, right? Is that, tell her, okay, for example, when it's time to sit down and write. [00:03:00] A post for social media on Tuesday instead of wondering, what should I say, what should I write? Thinking I'm not good at marketing, I have no idea what these people wanna hear from me to get them to work with me.
[00:03:14] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: Instead of that experience, you're gonna sit down at your, you know, in front of your desk or with your phone or whatever, to, to. Do your marketing activities and you'll be able to shift, you'll be able to make a shift into knowing and believing deep in your being that you are the expert. You'll believe that whatever you put out into the world is brilliant and is going to help someone because that's what you are doing for the clients that you already have.
[00:03:44] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: You'll know exactly what your best fit client is struggling with and what. They need to hear in order to be helped and served today, you will know how to connect them. You'll believe that you know how to connect [00:04:00] to them. And when you have those kinds of beliefs filling you, you show up to your marketing powerfully and you create a message full of energy and connection for your audience and with your audience.
[00:04:16] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: And when they receive that. They can't help but want to be more engaged with you, and they will reach out to you and want to know about what it's like to work with you. So that is how the work of self-concept shows up for you on a Tuesday, I. So do you see that example and how that's different from me just saying, oh, we're gonna coach on self-concept versus exactly how it's gonna show up for her on Tuesday, and making it very, very tangible how she tangibly experiences her business and her marketing.
[00:04:50] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: And so I wanted to share that with you because it's. Such an important skill for us to practice because we all are in [00:05:00] industries and we're doing work that we are very close to. That's very much part of us. But when we're bringing in a client that maybe doesn't have all that same lingo or those same understandings and those, those years of experience and skill development that you have, we have to really.
[00:05:20] Melissa Kellogg Lueck: Consciously and intentionally be communicating in a very tangible way so it serves them and connects that connects with them, but also it helps them know and be able to feel if they are the right person for the service that you offer and if you are the right service provider for them. Right. So I wanted to just offer you that quick marketing power up for your.
