Why It’s Important to Uplevel Your Outreach Now

Sep 01, 2021

What should I be doing now to market? How can I keep my business going during the pandemic?

I’ve had a chance to speak to countless entrepreneurs and small business owners about their businesses and these are two questions I’ve heard and discussed time and time again.

Truth is my friends, we need to be working to adapt, pivot if necessary, but definitely uplevel our outreach to keep our momentum and our businesses going.

Here are some of my thoughts on what we all can be doing now to uplevel our outreach and keep our businesses going strong:

  1. What does your ideal client need to feel comfort to buy? Understand what your ideal client is feeling right now and what she needs during this season to feel comfortable to buy from you. For example, let clients know how you are now conducting business differently for safety, take a video or photos of how doing business with you has changed, so that when your customer visits, they know exactly what to expect. You can post any instructions, photos/videos on your social media, website and send in via email.

  2. Ask yourself and your clients what value you can offer that goes above and beyond what you’ve done in the past? Be a resource to your community, your customers to help them navigate this time. If you sell a physical product, maybe offer free, safe, home delivery. I think of Rachael Walker of Life’s a Buch, a locally brewed kombucha producer. When many of the retail and restaurants carrying her kombucha had to close down, she sprung into action, kicked up production of her bottled kombucha, launched a simple e-commerce website in 2 hours and began home delivering her kombucha. See, she believes in her product and that her customers still wanted her products. Doing so, she’s doubled her sales last March and April. Yes, it was more work, but she was determined to serve her customers and save her company.

  3. Uplevel your communications with consistency and value. This is a great opportunity to get consistent with your marketing and communications; and build relationships with your audience. Your clients and your tribe are looking for stability and people and businesses they can trust. You can be top of mind with them simply by showing up, day after day, week after week with value and in service to them. Value is simply content that serves your clients’ needs with your unique style; it offers them results ahead of time. Yes, this does assume that you know your clients and know them well. If you don’t feel like you do, it’s a great time to get on the email and on the phone with them and check in, ask them how they’re doing and how you can better serve them now. See what comes up!

It’s tempting during this time to shrink away from engaging with our customers and stepping out and serving our community and clients in new ways. It takes lots of confidence and belief in yourself and how you can help. Remember, your community, your customers, need you, so I invite you to continue pressing into that discomfort and growing your business.

We can do this!

Cheers,
Melissa

P.S. If you feel like you’ve tried everything to market your business and it’s still not working, the reason why is that you’re missing confidence. When you insert confidence into your marketing & sales your results explode. Through coaching, I help my clients cultivate that confidence and then develop marketing strategies that get results. And it all starts with one conversation...You'll tell me about your business, current struggles, and where you'd really like to be - and I'll share what’s tripping you up and areas to focus that I see. The impact of having space and time to talk to an expert about your business and goals is immense, regardless of if we choose to work together further or not. You in?
