What Is the Change You Seek to Make?

Sep 08, 2021

“What is the change you seek to make?”

When I enrolled in Seth Godin's course, The Marketing Seminar, a few years back, this is the question he began the course with.

I struggled to answer it.

I was providing great done-for-you content solutions and marketing services but I didn’t think of myself or anything I was doing as a huge “change-maker.” And my lack of mission showed up in my business and everywhere else in my life too.

The question got stuck in my mind...I had to answer it. And through years of asking, answering, asking some more and answering some more I uncovered the answer that was always inside me, just buried under shame, embarrassment, and my fears of what others would think.

Now, I know to the depth of my bones how to answer the question...I am on a mission to help women entrepreneurs build more six-figure businesses than ever existed before in history and achieve their impossible dreams of having exceptional business and fulfilling lives. I want my daughter to grow up in an environment where women building exceptional six-figure businesses is commonplace.

So, now I ask you…

“What is the change you seek to make?”

What is the mission, the crusade you are on? What is your ‘why?’

Knowing your mission is a critical part to creating a sustainable, scalable business.

Author Simon Sinek said it best, “People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.” And the companies, and people, that can clearly communicate our why, our mission will be the most successful.

Connecting deeply with your mission will help you and your company get through challenging times like these and help you soar in the good times. So I encourage you now to take a few moments and journal about your ‘why,’ your crusade, the change you want to make.

Keep in mind that finding your ‘why’ can be a journey, so have grace with yourself to continue the search...there’s gold there, I promise! Even if you’ve done this exercise in the past, it’s a good opportunity now to reconnect, remember, and even refresh your why.

And once you’ve done that think about and journal on the unique ways that you offer your product or service. What makes your business and/or the way you do business different than others in your space? How can you better communicate or show off your memorable, one-of-a-kind qualities. If you get stumped, ask your clients, close friends or family members.

Now, I invite you to intentionally begin weaving your ‘why’ and more of your uniqueness into your communications, when you speak, write social posts or draft emails. Let your personality shine through! Your ideal clients want to know, like, trust you and join you in your crusade. So let them!

Cheers,
Melissa

P.S. If you would like to join me in my crusade as a woman entrepreneur scaling up her business, I invite you to schedule a free coaching consultation and experience how I can help you build your confidence, perfect your marketing, sales, and systems to build an exceptional enterprise. I look forward to speaking with you!
