Sneaky Thought #2: “I’m not sure what I’m offering can really help.”

Sep 28, 2021

Hi friends! I want to share with you an analogy that has been so helpful for me in getting better results in my sales and marketing efforts. It’s a concept called the Belief Triangle. I learned this from my sales coach, Stacey Boehman, and it has really helped me to better understand the relationship between my belief and how it relates to my clients and being able to close more sales and help more women build successful businesses.

So, picture this, there are three points on the triangle: you, your client, and your offer or service. For you to successfully market and sell to your client, all three sides of belief must be present:

  1. You must believe in your service and your client
  2. Your client must believe in you and your service

It’s also important to note that your client’s level of belief in you and your offer will never be higher than your belief in yourself and your offer. Let me say it another way...your client will never believe in you more than you believe in yourself and your offer.

So, if you feel like you are not getting the results you’d like to in your business it may be because of your thoughts and beliefs around yourself and your service. Sneaky thought #2 may be at work...

Sneaky Thought #2: Could “I’m not sure what I’m offering can really help” be at work in your mind?

For example, there have been times in my own business that I’ve had a call or meeting with a potential and as I’m speaking, I’m thinking “I’m not really sure what I’m offering can give her the help she needs.” When this happens I’m feeling slimy and unsure. And I’m sure I come off lacking confidence, timid, or even creepy. Have you ever experienced this?

What has helped me is to spend time really honing in on who I’m best able to serve (women starting businesses) and exactly how (coaching on marketing). Collect testimonials from your past clients or if you already have some great testimonials, review them and journal in your own words how you’ve been able to help your clients and the value you offer. Use this exercise as one way to start building more belief in yourself and your offer.

I’ve also found it helpful to ask if there’s anything I can do to improve my client’s experience or my service so that I can more confidently make offers that I know can help.

Remember, you have all these answers inside of you, just take the time to be still, get quiet, ask yourself, and be ready to record the answers. You WILL find gold in ‘them-there’ answers. This is not an invitation to go procrasti-learning!

Building belief is not a ‘one-and-done’ activity. You’ll be working day in and day out finding reasons to be confident in yourself and your service, writing down the evidence in the form of beliefs you WANT to have about yourself and your offer, and building that belief brick by little brick.

Why do this? Take a moment and just imagine yourself as the most confident individual you’ve ever met..how does she talk about her business, herself? How does she make others feel when they’re around her? Is her confidence infectious? Are others attracted to her and inspired to believe in themselves because she believes in them?

You can...and will become that confident person! With practice. So, this week, make a point to draw your triangle and give it some thought. How can you build your belief in yourself and your offer? What is the evidence you already have?

Cheers to your success!
:)Melissa
